Internet Security
First National is dedicated to providing a secure Internet banking solution.
Your account information is housed within secure databases which are updated
with bank data over private sessions. We use several layers of technology to
ensure the confidentiality of First National Bank of Elk River Internet Banking transactions.
With the Internet as the fastest growing form of commercial exchange in the
world, the need for tighter security is paramount. To provide you the piece of
mind you rightfully deserve, First National has implemented a nationally
recognized, sophisticated networking architecture consisting of 128 bit data
encryption throughout the transmission to prevent unauthorized access or
interception. In fact, an encrypted transaction made on this secured Internet
connection is more secure than dialing the bank direct as with most PC banking
systems. First National Bank of Elk River has your privacy, protection and
peace of mind at the forefront of our Internet Banking solution.
Data security between your browser (Netscape Navigator 3.0 or above, Microsoft
Internet Explorer 4.0 or above or America Online (AOL) 5.0 or above) and the
First National's Internet Banking web server is handled through a security
protocol called Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). SSL provides data encryption,
server authentication, and message integrity for an Internet connection. In
addition, SSL provides a security "handshake" that is used to initiate the
connection. This handshake results in the client and server agreeing on the
level of security they will use (currently 128 bit) and fulfills any
authentication requirements for the connection.
Security concerns have been addressed from every angle within the architecture
of the First National Internet banking application. Implementation of the SSL
security protocol on the Web server and your browser ensures that data being
exchanged is authenticated.
Note: You must treat your First National Internet Banking ID and password with
the same care as you treat your ATM or credit card PIN. In addition, we
urge you to be make sure that no one is physically watching as you enter your
ID and password. If you have logged into First National's Internet Banking, be
sure to exit the application when leaving the computer unattended (Internet
Banking will lock you out in ten minutes if no activity occurs). You should
also take standard precautions to keep computers clean and free from viruses
that could be used to capture password keystrokes.
First National does not view security as something that is set up once and left
alone. New advances in security technology are happening daily; First National
is constantly enhancing its security architecture to ensure that it provides
the highest level of privacy and safety for both First National and our valued
customers.
